You are Only Responsible for You

Acknowledging that as adults we play some role in handing away our power never means that we are responsible for the ways people exploit us.

It only means that as soon as we recognize our power, we are free to start using it.

It’s okay to forgive yourself for not seeing the role you played in your own disempowerment.

You are still not responsible for the behaviors and choices another person makes.

You are only responsible for you.

Instead of beating yourself up for what you couldn’t see or know before, embrace that you now have the perspective you need to do something different.

Transform your shame into the courage you need to take your life back into your own hands.
