I am nonbinary and I use they/them pronouns.

I have known this about myself for almost 14 years. I have grappled with it over and over and always return to what I know about myself.

I don’t expect others to understand me. I don’t expect anyone to validate my gender.

Because what I know about myself is enough for me.

All I expect from others is respect.

Use the pronouns I ask you to when referring to me, and most importantly: allow me my freedom to define my experience in my own terms.

The rest is nobodies business but my own.
