Relating to others from a differentiated place might make people uncomfortable.

Holding onto your truth from a solid place is threatening enough to many, but holding onto your truth in a way that makes no demands that the other validates or agrees with you is likely to confuse people who are used to confrontations based on enmeshment and control.

People will feel threatened and confused by the authority you vest in yourself in determining your own experience, preferences, expectations, and boundaries.

You cannot spend your precious life energy denying your inner truth because it will make others uncomfortable.

Nor should you waste it trying to force others to validate you.

Get comfortable with making others uncomfortable. Familiarize yourself with what it feels like to hold love, acceptance, and tension together.

Learn to hold the kind of strength that makes relationships resilient.
